It's about time

I am so very excited my brother is engaged we have been waiting for this for awhile he is 30 just a month older than Jared and he found this awesome girl named Melissa and I am so very happy because she is awesome enough for him my brother is a pretty special guy. All my brothers are really any way I will probably get to a wedding cake this summer after all hurray. To night we are going to a fundraiser for our youth they sold tickets to a couples dinner with babysitting for 20 bucks should be fun. Oh and yesterday Jared set up the baby's crib the one he made for Harlan and then gave to Jake and Julie and now we have it back, thank you very much Jake and Julie it is actually in really great shape for having gone through all the kids it has not that I thought it wouldn't be. It is kind of sad that my baby has out grown the bassinet Jared made and is in a crib now she is getting to big to fast. I am feeling really good today because I lost 4 lbs. this week I have been losing steadily every week but this week was especially good.

finally a new post

Well I know it is about time I posted but well it is easy for me to let things get away from me like my house but that is another story. Last weekend my brother graduated from high school the last one in my family to graduate and I brought my camera and geuss what didn't take a single picture I really need to get better about that. We had a great time at my parents we helped my mom in her yard which is huge and played ultimate frisbee which my family loves. And of course we played games and talked alot oh and of course their was alot of teasing involved we are big teasers. The school my family all graduated from is kind of small there were 20 kids in my brothers graduating class so they do alot of special things for their graduation like give flowers to their parents and give candles of wisdom to someone special my brother gave his to Gracie and Jayda my brother Jay's daughter and I left my camera in the car hopefully my mom will give me some of the pictures. We came back after the graduation so we had all day Monday to play I mean work it was more work than play.
On Wednesday Harlan graduated from pre-school it was very cute and I got pictures hooray it was dark in their gym so they didn't turn out very good. Harlan's class sang some really cute songs and he did an awesome job unlike this kid who buried his head in risers the whole time
then they gave each one a certificate and we went back to their class room for cake which I didn't eat because well I am pretending to be on a diet some days are better than others
We are so proud of Harlan and all that he has learned in his class hopefully I can keep it up this summer. Saturday we went to a potluck in appreciation of Mother's put on by the Spanish branch I really need to learn some more spanish and become friends with the sister's so they will teach me all their recipes because their was some good food there.
I thought that you would all like to see a picture of our cute baby she is getting so big and smiles alot we all love to try and get her to smile. We are going to a graduation barbecue today for my cousin Rory it should be fun.

The Week off

So last week was Jared's week off and of course he didn't get all that we had planned done but he did alot. We got our Garden in and he painted the trim and he cut down a huge tree for a co-worker we got to keep the wood and we got family and individual pictures taken it was about time the last time we had it done Emery was 3months old so we were due. I have a few interesting stories to tell on Teusday I helped Jared load a trailer we borrowed from D.J.'s parents with all the branches from the tree to take to the dump it was alot of hard work and I had to follow him out in his pickup because we didn't have lights on the trailer because we needed an adapter to hook it up to the van we are borrowing from my sister. Jared's pickup is a stick shift with no power steering so I hate driving it but he insisted so I did all went well at the dump if you don't factor in all the dust the back hoe kicked up in our faces. That night after we got back I went to Albertson's to get a movie from the Redbox and when I pulled in to the parking lot a teenage boy solicited me to buy beer for his friends I of course said no and I went inside and told one of the checkers what happened because honestly I was mad that it even happened then proceeded to get my movie when I left that kid was still in the parking lot. When I got home I told Jared what happened and he immediately called his store and talked to Charles the guy in charge at the time (the clerk told me when I was there that she would tell him) and told him to call the cops and get that kid out of there parking lot. Charles called back a few minutes later and told us that the kid was working for the cops as part of a sting operation. And a couple days later in the paper they said that the police had caught 6 people in 4 hours buying alcohol for a minor. I feel like I passed some kind of big test or something. It was really nice to have Jared home for so long and unfortunately he had to go back to work on mother's day so I made my own dinner but my mother's day was still nice I got cards from the kids and my neighbors brought over a pot of flowers they aren't memebers none of our neighbors are but they are all super nice. This weekend I am off to my parents cause my little brother is graduating hopefully I will get to see you then Jenni I will be up there Friday morning maybe we can do somthing after I get there let me know. I will try and post pictures of our house soon I didn't take any at all last week which is kind of sad

I was starting to think that my kids are such great kids they don't get into things they shouldn't except maybe the fridge and Well Emery is an exception but Harlan and Gracie are really good. Then last week I hear this noise like styrofoam being crunched and lo and behold my two older angels have gotten into the box that holds the mirror for our bathroom which we have to take back because the paint is bubbled up on it we didn't even get to hang it up. Any way the thing is encased in styrofoam and Gracie and Harlan decided to crumble it up and let me tell you the stuff sticks to everything Two days later I was still finding the stuff in Gracies hair and stuck to my walls arghhh. Needless to say the mirror went back to Lowe's the next day. Monday we had my sister's family and the missionaries over for family night and dinner we had a barbecue because it was a gorgeous day not like the rest of the week which was cold. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed having everyone over.
Harlan wanted me to put on the picture he drew of Lofty not too bad even wrote the name without help and of course his sister had to have her picture put on too so their you go my kids artistic endeavors I don't know what Gracies is supposed to be maybe and abstract. Saturday Jared and I have been asked to speak at the stake baptism I don't know why they asked us but hopefully it will go well. I am going to try and get sitters for the kids so they won't disturb everyone during our talks. I am really excited for next week because Jared has it off he has to use up his vacation time before the 15 th of this month we aren't going anywhere can't really afford to but he plans on doing alot of work on the house yippee maybe I will get to post pictures of the progress.

Shilo's checkup and Harlan's progress

Shilo had her two month appointment yesterday and it was interesting because I took all 4 of the kids with me they didn't do too bad but it is never easy to get them all in and out of the car. Shilo our little chunk now weighs 11lbs. 8oz. what a big girl she is and she is 22 1/4 inches long. We decided to put her in this study for a meningitis vaccine Emery was also part of it and this is the second trial they had great results with the first. She also got three shots the poor thing her little legs were very sensitive were she got her shots she cried when ever we accidently bumped or touched them. Harlan has been going to pre-school since December and he has made leaps and bounds he is improving alot. He is very proud of how well he can write his name now and is always writing it for me and he wants to know how everybody else spells their name and what letter it starts with. All the Language and occupational therapy he has gotten has really made a difference and they are going to continue it when he gets into kindergarten so that is great especially since the school provides it.
We are working on the last name now and he does all right just doesn't always remember how to spell it. He is also starting to read a little. Every time we come to a stop sign he says S T O P that says stop. Enough bragging about my boy who is getting very big.

Girl forks and boy forks

Can you tell which one is the girl fork and which is the boy (the fancier one is the girl fork). I wasn't aware until I had kids that forks had gender but my daughter has opened my eyes and she insists upon her having the girl fork. In fact the other day she got very upset because her brother had the girl fork and an argument ensued when he informed her there are no girl forks or boy forks just forks of course she disagreed. It will be interesting to see what other inanimate objects develop genders. We get to take Shilo to the doctor today and she is smiling now but she will be crying soon. She has to get shots
